Operated by a trusted local company — book direct, sail on our own yachts, no middleman markup.

A Bosphorus sunset cruise is, for many travelers, the single most memorable hour of their trip to Istanbul. The light shifts from gold to copper, mosque silhouettes go dark against an orange sky, the call to prayer drifts across the water from both continents at once. We’ve been operating this exact tour since 1993, on our own yachts, with our own crew.

The 2-Hour Sunset Route

Boarding is 30 minutes before sunset at a central pier. We sail north along the European shore — passing Dolmabahçe Palace, Çırağan Palace, the Ortaköy Mosque under the Bosphorus Bridge — turn near Rumeli Fortress, and return along the Asian shore as the city lights come on. You’ll see Maiden’s Tower glow against the historic peninsula on the way back.

What Makes Our Sunset Cruise Different

  • Small group on a real yacht — 12–24 guests, not a 200-person tour boat with a buffet line
  • English-speaking local guide on board — narrating the landmarks as you pass them, answering questions, helping with photos
  • Drinks and Turkish snacks included — tea, Turkish coffee, soft drinks; wine and beer available
  • Calm, not party — no loud music, no bachelor parties; this is a relaxed sunset, not a club night
  • TURSAB-licensed (A-3850) — booking is insured under Turkish travel law

When to Go: Sunset Times in Istanbul (2026)

Sunset varies dramatically by season. We adjust departure time monthly so you’re always on the water during golden hour:

  • April: ~19:30 sunset — boarding 19:00
  • June (longest days): ~20:45 sunset — boarding 20:15
  • October: ~18:30 sunset — boarding 18:00
  • December (shortest days): ~16:45 sunset — boarding 16:15

Iconic Landmarks You’ll Pass

Dolmabahçe Palace (the late-Ottoman seaside palace), Çırağan Palace (now the Çırağan Palace Kempinski), Ortaköy Mosque framed by the first Bosphorus Bridge, the wooden waterfront mansions called yalı, Rumeli Fortress (built in 1452 for the conquest of Constantinople), and Maiden’s Tower on its tiny island in the strait.

Who Books This Tour

Couples on a first trip to Istanbul. Honeymooners. Solo travelers wanting a non-touristy hour. Small friend groups. Cruise-ship passengers with an evening in port. We don’t recommend it for very small children — the tour is calm but it’s still a 2-hour boat trip.

Book Direct, Skip the Markup

Online travel agencies and reseller sites can mark this tour up by 40–60%. Booking directly with us means a better price, faster confirmation, and a real human you can WhatsApp the morning of the cruise if anything changes. See live availability and book the Bosphorus Sunset Cruise →

Things to Do in Istanbul: Pair It With

A late lunch in Karaköy, a walk across Galata Bridge at dusk, dinner in Beyoğlu after the cruise, or a morning Sultanahmet tour earlier the same day. Many guests pair the sunset cruise with our private yacht tours for special occasions like proposals and anniversaries.
