Hipódromo y Columna de Constantino
En lo que hoy es la plaza de Sultanahmet se encontraba el Hipódromo de Constantinopla, centro de la vida social bizantina con capacidad para 100.000 espectadores. Aún se conservan el Obelisco de Teodosio traído de Egipto, la Columna Serpentina de Delfos y los restos de la espina central. Cerca, la Columna de Constantino, erigida en el año 330, marca el lugar donde el emperador fundó la nueva capital.
